When are tryouts? How do I get my athlete on a team?
The EIVA organizes tournament opportunities for club volleyball teams at the U10 through U18 age level. We do not form or create teams. If you need assistance finding a volleyball club in your area, most high schools have contact information for their local sports clubs. You may also contact us for information about volleyball clubs that are in your area.
We are sometimes confused with a club in the Pocatello area that has a similar name to the Eastern Idaho Volleyball Association, so please make sure you're visiting the correct website.
When is your season?
Our season schedule can be found on our Documents page once we confirm our tournament dates. Season registration typically opens around the middle of November and is open through January 31. Our Power and Grand Prix tournaments can fill quickly, so make sure you register early. Saturday League and tournaments begin the first weekend of March and last until the 2nd week of May.
What are Power and Grand Prix Tournaments?
Power and Grand Prix Tournaments are one-day or two-day events that use a pool play and single elimination bracket format. After all teams compete in pool play, they are seeded into single elimination brackets based on their pool play results. Gold bracket winners earn a bid to AAU Nationals provided there are at least 16 teams in the tournament. The entry fee for Nationals is covered by the AAU for Grand Prix tournament winners and the entry fee is paid by the EIVA for Power Tournaments winners.
What is Saturday League?
Saturday League tournament events are held every weekend of the season for the U10 through U16 age levels. U15-U16 Saturday League events are not scheduled on the same weekends as our U15-U16 Power and Grand Prix Tournaments. Teams participating in the Saturday League are scheduled for a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 events. Saturday League events use a pool play format. U10-U12 events are scheduled in 2-hour increments for the day, with 4-team pools playing on 2 courts. U13-U16 events are 5-team pools playing on 2 courts, with events scheduled in the morning and afternoon. The focus of these tournaments is to provide more playing time opportunities and touches on the ball for players and teams, especially at the younger levels. All matches are 2 games to 25 with no cap.
How much does it cost?
Current tournament and league fees are listed on our Home page and on our Events pages. We offer a 10% discount if you register by January 15th. All players and coaching staff that will be on the court must also have an AAU membership. Adult AAU memberships are $16/year and youth memberships are $14/year.
How do you determine a player's age level?
Visit our Documents page to find the age definition document for the current season.
Can I get a refund if my team drops out of a scheduled tournament?
No refunds will be given if your team drops out of a Power or Grand Prix Tournament after January 31. We can transfer the tournament fees to another team in your club or to an event on another weekend if that tournament registration still has available spots.
A $100 fee will be charged if your team drops out of a scheduled Saturday League event less than 14 days prior to the event.
Are boys allowed to play in EIVA events??
Boys may participate in Saturday League or Power Tournament events, but they must move up one age division. For example, a U12 boy must play on a U13-U14 team or a U14 boy must play on a U15-U16 team. Power Tournament teams containing boys cannot advance to the gold division bracket for that tournament. Boys are not allowed to participate in Grand Prix Tournaments.
How do I become an official?
Contact us and we will send your information to our Officials Coordinator, who will contact you to answer your questions. We are looking for officials of all ages and experience levels. We typically schedule a meeting in February for all individuals interested in officiating EIVA events.
